Why artificial turf outperforms traditional grass for roofs.

Rooftop Greenery

Green roofs are making an impact in cities all around the world. Green roofs deliver shade, absorb heat from the air, and reduce the roof surface and surrounding air temperatures. These rooftops are a great way to expand square footage and enhance mental health by incorporating a green outdoor escape in the concrete jungle. By using synthetic, you can expand the possibilities for making a creative space in an otherwise drab area.

Benefits of Artificial Grass Rooftops

There are several advantages to installing artificial turf on a rooftop. Here are a handful of our favorites:

Easy to Clean

Artificial turf is exceptionally simple to keep clean and fresh-looking.

Lightweight

It doesn’t pose any safety risks or hazards compared to natural grass — such as root and water damage.

Provides Insulation

Protects interiors of buildings from extreme heat and can provide resistance to mildew, decomposition, or mold.

Less Maintenance

Artificial turf will last for the long haul and requires very little upkeep if installed properly.

Adds Value

Creates a quick getaway while in the midst of the concrete jungle.

Safe Space for Kids & Pets

With artificial grass, your pets and children will not be vulnerable to toxic weedkillers, fertilizers, and pesticides.

Create A Unique Look

Artificial turf makes it simple to put turf where natural grass won’t grow, and you have the ability to create unusual shapes, or even put them on walls if you wish.

Which Fiber Type Should You Choose?

There are several factors to think about when selecting synthetic turf, not to mention what would be look good on a rooftop. Here are a few crucial elements to consider when purchasing:

Nylon is a durable fabric, but outdoor areas are vulnerable to expansion/contraction and will probably fade.

For indoor areas, we recommend nylon or situations with heavy commercial traffic or non-fill areas. All non-infill nylon Shaw products follow thorough flammability testing to comply with building codes.

We recommend an infill PE tape product for a commercial rooftop area.

PE tape is long-lasting without sacrificing performance; high-quality PE resins are fade-resistant and not vulnerable to contraction and expansion. Our Play-Safe collection provides the best performance for this application.
